Overseas player Kashif Naveed powered Morley to their first trophy since joining the JCT600 Bradford League 15 years ago.

Naveed made an unbeaten 65 off 35 balls with four sixes and six fours as Morley secured a six-wicket win over Lightcliffe under the floodlights at Bradford & Bingley.

Morley past Lightcliffe's score of 125-7 with 11 balls to spare and will now compete in the ECB National T/20 competition next year.

While Naveed's innings sealed Morley's win, it was their bowler who set it up. They wanted to make amends for last year'' sfinal defeat by Pudsey Congs where the gave away 17 wides as they lost by nine runs. This time their control of length and line was much better and they yielded just five wides.

Lightcliffe's powerful batting line up was prevented from clicking in to top gear. David Hester (23), Suleman Khan (20) and Mark Horne (20no) were their top scorers, but nobody was able to play the big innings that was needed.

Off spinner David Paynter was the pick of the Morley bowlers with 1-6 from three overs while Richard Winn (2-27) was the most successful member of the Morley attack.

Morley also found runscoring difficult as the Lightcliffe bowlers tried their hardest to defende their modest score. Theystill had work to do when they were 96-4 after 15 overs, but Naveed lauched an assault which saw Morley to their target..

To crown a great night for Morley their juniors won the inaugural Dyson Energy Services Juniors Twenty/20 Cup.
