Umpires are an integral part of the game and are always required; no umpires no game!

Offering the ‘best seat in the house’, ex players and cricket supporters / enthusiasts can put something back into the game they have enjoyed for many years.

The League and Umpires’ Association encourage more people to become involved. Umpires do not have to commit to every week, but the more umpires there are, more games get covered.

The All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Umoires Association is actively looking for new umpires to join its panel

With the expansion of the League following the merger with the Central Yorkshire Cricket League, the Association would like to appoint two umpires to every fixture every week.

The Association would also like to encourage those who have been club umpires in the CYCL to become full members of the Association and join the panel.

Full training will be given for all who wish to join

Anyone wishing to join the Association should contact the Secretary, David Ratcliffe (see contact details at foot of page) or by email at

In addition an ECB ACO Level One course has been arranged by the Bradford Branch. The course will be held at Pudsey Congs Cricket Club, Intake Road, Pudsey LS28 9BZ on Saturdays January 23, 30 and February 6 with the exam on February 13.

The sessions are from 12.00-17.00. The course tutors will be David Ratcliffe and Bill Dove. The course prepares all candidates for a start in league cricket, with an in depth teaching of the Laws, with many video clips to help with interpretation.

The cost of the course will be £30 per candidate payable at the first session. The course fee includes all course material, workbook etc, copy of the current MCC Law book, Tom Smith’s Umpiring and Scoring and the cost of the exam.
