John Virr will be scoring for England at Headingley in the fourth one-day international against Pakistan


League secretary John Virr has been selected for international duty at Headingley on Thursday.

Virr, 60, has been appointed as England scorer for the fourth one-day international against Pakistan.

It is the biggest honour of Virr's scoring career which he launched with Hanging Heaton after ending his playing career.with the Bennett Lane club.

For the past two seasons he has scored regularly for the Yorkshire Second XI and has scored for England under-17s.

On Sunday Virr was on duty at the Priestley Cup final where he was using the CriccHQ scoring app on an IPad which was driving the electronic scoreboard being demonstrated by Quickscore.

Virr is looking forward to his big day. He said: "It is an honour to be chose and a pleasant surprise. I am sure I will be a little nervous, but it will be good to score at such a big match."

Virr is a member of the ECB ACO and is a Level 3 qualified scoer who is also a trainer.for scorers,
