Pudsey Congs are poised to complete the signing of Yorkshire and England batsman Jonny Bairstow to boost their JCT600 Bradford League title challenge.

News of the transfer emerged just 48 hours after Bairstow made a stunning 141 not out off 59 balls for the Yorkshire Vikings in their 46-run win over the JCT600 Bradford League at Pudsey Congs in the JCT600 Challenge Match.

The 25-year-old is one of the most exciting players in English cricket and he will certainly light up the JCT600 Bradford League with his strokeplay.

He will be joining his elder brother Andrew in a Congs teams which has made an encouraging start to the new season.

Bairstow's Yorkshire commitments will limit his availability and Congs officials will be discussing with him the subject of when he can play. Under league rules he will need to appear in a game by July 31 to be be able to play in the second half of the season.

After his scintillating performance on Monday night Bradford League followers are in for some exciting batting to watch

League chairman David Young said: "It is great to see another Yorkshire player wanting to come and play in our league."
