Hanging Heaton and Yeadon had mixed fortunes in the first round of this season's ECB Royal London Club Championship ,
Hanging Heaton put their poor league form behind them as they raced to a ten-wicket victory over Goole Town, but Yeadon's early troubles continued with a 158-run defeat.
Goole were skittled out for just 80 at Bennett Lane with David Stiff taking 4-9. John Carruthers and Ben Elvidge chipped in with two wickets each. Openers James Byrne (50no) and Joe Fraser (25no) steered Hanging Heaton to their target.
Yeadon were up against it once Driffield recovered from losing opener Grant Halder for a duck, Driffield piled on the agony for the home side.
They ran up a total of 302-3 as the Yeadon bowlers were made to suffer. Mark Clarkson (41) and George Drury (29) laid the foundations which Sam Drury (113no) and Danny Broumpton (88no) built on with an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 184
Yeadon never looked like matching Driffield's total but they did record their highest score of the season to date, 144. Matthew Wagstaff top scored with 33 as George Drury (4-24) and Nicky Johnson (3-27) sealed Driffield's big win.
