LEAGUE CREST SOVEREIGN HEALTH CARE PRIESTLEY SHIELD FINAL
Rained off
The soggy scene at Keighley this morning which led to the abandonment of the Priestley Shield final

Today's Sovereign Health Care Priestley Shield final between Hanging Heaton and Pudsey St Lawrence has been abandoned and rearranged for Sunday, August 17.

Umpires Andy Halliday and Phil Taylor inspected the ground at 10am but with heavy rain falling and more forecast for the rest of the day, it was agreed to abandon the game.

League chief executive David Young said: "We felt it was important to make an early decision to prevent people from making fruitless journeys.

"The match will now be played next Sunday when we hope the conditions will be favourable for the teams and spectators to enjoy the occasion.

"We thank the Keighley club, and inparticular their groundsman Richard Robinson, for the hard work they have put in and hope they will be rewarded with a good crowd next Sunday."
