It was a record-breaking night at Wagon Lane as Pudsey Congs lifted the Dyson Energy Services Twenty/20 Cup for the second time with a 65-run win over Woodlands.

The highlight was undoubtedly the splendid 114 that Congs opener Callum Geldart made from just 54 balls. It was the first century made in a final in the six-year history of the competiton.

His opening stand of 198 with Adam Patel (77) was also a record for a final as was Congs total of 252-4.

Geldart is certainly a man for the big occasion. It was his century which guided Congs to victory over Townville in the Heavy Woollen Cup final at the start of the month and he stole the attention again with an innings full of stunning strokeplay.

Patel, who had hit a century in the semi-final win over Undercliffe, was also in sparkling form. He too looked on course foir a century when he collided with Geldart and was run out.

Geldart departed soon after but the run still kept coming.Joe Greaves made an unbeaten 35 as the Woodlands bowlers were all made to suffer.

Woodlands had to score at 12 an over to have a chance of victory, but they never matched the required rate. Opener Duncan Snell played brighlty for 54 and there were flurries from Sarfraz Ahned (34), Chris Brice (29) and Usman Salim (27no) but Cons wefre always in command as they restricted Woodlands to 187-7.

The Congs bowlers were backed up by some fine fielding and catching, Paceman James Pearson took 2-13 in four economical overs.
